how quickly Brookfield has and continues to grow, will
enable us to learn from our experiences and move much
faster than we are able to do today.
What were the major technology projects you
started or completed last year?
Last year, Brookfield completed two of the largest real
estate acquisitions in the world when they acquired both
GGP and Forest City. This increased Brookfield’s retail port-
folio by 121 million square feet; and Forest City’s acquisition
included a diverse portfolio of assets including large mixed-
use development assets, over 18,500 multi-family units
and over 10 million square feet of office, life sciences and
retail operating assets. Given these acquisitions, the biggest
focus has been integrating these into the Brookfield world.
For the Retail (GGP) platform, the goal is to consolidate our
U.S. based retail operations into one common technology
platform that includes our IT infrastructure and applications
