tion has forever changed how we design, construct,
operate, transact and use real estate space. It has
been fueled in large part by the increasing capabili-
ties of mobile devices, consumer driven technology
improvements, social media, data analytics, the Cloud
and the Internet of Things—all tools for automation,
  innovation and change.

For many in the commercial and corporate real es-
tate industry, 2014 was a year of tremendous growth.
Companies are realizing that the technologies needed
to automate their business processes and real estate
assets are now proven and are much less expensive
than in the past. From integrated information man-
agement systems, to smart, connected, high per-
formance, intelligent buildings and next generation
workspaces—these concepts are no longer just ideas,
but now fully implemented, best practice case studies.

With technology no longer the inhibitor, what is
needed now is organizational realignment at the
  personal, departmental and organizational level.
Technology, automation and innovation are poised to
change every business process found in our industry
and the question now is simply: “How fast can an
  organization embrace these new ideas?”

RealcommEDGE asked this year’s Realcomm and
IBcon Advisory Council Co-Chairpersons, who repre-
sent some of the largest and most successful firms in
the industry, to share how their companies are em-
bracing technology and preparing for this new world.
They spoke of their accomplishments in 2014; their
goals and aspirations for 2015; their outlook on the
future, and what they think the biggest tech trends
will be over the next three years.
