the linear, sequential “waterfall” method. It recommends self-organizing project teams, frequent customer engagement, early prototype release, responsiveness to feedback and rapid improvement—all in an atmosphere
of trust and transparency. Agile change management takes this approach and applies it to change management initiatives through a series of change cycles that involve experimentation and adaptation. See FIGURE 1 – Agile Methodology.
Agile is the framework best suited to manage the transition to a hybrid workplace. If the hybrid workplace had an obvious, universal, repeatable set of directions, a waterfall approach to the transition would be indicated. Unfortunately, in the current state of flux, there is no self-evident, common route to the hybrid workplace of the future. Instead, organi- zations must navigate for themselves through swift testing and validation. These are optimal conditions for an agile approach. See FIGURE 2 – Cynefin Model.
