In this session, Alex Wolkomir at McKinsey & Company provides a high-level introduction to generative AI. Artificial Intelligence (AI), first discussed in 1956, caught the attention of the world in late 2023. An organization that has been paying close attention to AI and other strategic technologies as it relates to the competitiveness of the United States, is the Special Studies Competitive Project (SCSP). Founded by Eric Schmidt, former CEO and Chairman of Google and modeled after Nelson Rockefeller’s Special Studies Project, SCSP is focused on aligning business, academia and the government on important emerging technologies including AI. Liza Tobin, Senior Director for the Economy and David Chee, Director for the Economy will present the findings of SCSP’s groundbreaking report, Generative AI: The Future of Innovation Power.

Case Study | Deloitte & Columbia University. The development and use of effective AI applications require a close collaboration between the business side and the technical side. For the last two years, Columbia University's Center for Artificial Intelligence in Business Analytics and FinTech has worked closely with Deloitte's Real Estate Strategy & Sustainability group to better understand the corporate real estate management process and begin to develop descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics systems to streamline and improve corporate real estate management decisions. this presentation will take an objective look at the AI development process, required stakeholders, challenges, and the immense potential of advanced analytical tools in the real estate industry.
