Cyber Incident Report: The Major Threats to Commercial and Corporate Real Estate
There is a great deal of activity in the cyberspace and that holds true for the built environment. With concerns of smart building infrastructure breaches, the potential for disruption grows daily. Whether it is a nominal incident perpetrated by a mischievous individual or a massive, coordinated breach orchestrated by a nation state, it is critical that every real estate organization takes note of these threats and their implications. There is no better way to understand what the threat landscape looks like and its relevance to building owners and operators than to review what has been happening in our industry over the last 6-12 months in this timely session.

Smart Connected Buildings and the Impacts of a Global Pandemic
The smart building conversation is not a new one. Starting with vendor specific proprietary systems, then moving to open, integrated, interoperable and IP-centric and now onto building IoT, the conversation has evolved. At first it was about energy, then operational efficiency, sustainability, occupant experience and now health and wellness. The truth is, a smart building should include all of these objectives. There is no doubt that COVID has changed the trajectory and the industry is being forced to rethink itself. How will owners and operators afford the tech while experiencing financial difficulties? Will portfolios shrink? Which buildings take priority? Will innovation suffer? These are just some of the difficult issues that will be addressed at this session.

Accelerated Innovation: Developing an Effective Change Management Strategy
Communications, operating systems, applications and data are the tools we use to develop the automated processes that carry our businesses and lives forward. Past and emerging tech combined with disruptive societal change (like COVID-19) will radically alter almost every business process. With all these forces at hand, how do organizations quickly change at scale? Many experts say that organizational culture and personal habits that have developed over years are the biggest inhibitors of change. This valuable session focuses on the human side of accelerated innovation, unforeseen circumstances and the change management that is required. Those that have been successful in this effort speak candidly about their journey.

COVID-19: Implications for Sustainable Real Estate
For a few years now, the environmental, social and governance conversations have been relatively quiet. But now, COVID is supercharging this movement within the CRE sector, led by giants like Blackrock, REIT Prologis, CBRE and corporate names like Unilever and HP. The good news is that data produced by smart facilities solutions meet many of the demands of this new market for transparency and wellness, and set the stage for actionable improvement in portfolio performance on energy, water use, waste and other issues. In this timely session, we explore how the commercial and corporate real estate industry can meet this burgeoning data demand.

Moving into the Virtual World: The Future is Now
Not too long ago, you needed to jump in a car and drive to a location to do something: an office to work, a mall to shop, theater to watch a movie or an arcade to play a video game. In the last 20-30 years, that has all changed because of technology. Now most, if not all of our lives, can be serviced online. Still, humans by our nature need and want to be together. However, through technology advancements and ever-increasing expectations, physical environments need to be expanded with extraordinary virtual experiences. Long gone is the reliance on only analog tools. This illuminating session provides insight from world class leaders in the area of virtual, augmented and immersive technology, something every building owner and operator needs to understand.

Closing Session
Many are focused on the short term and what re-occupancy into buildings looks like in the next 3-6 months. The business and financial disruption has been substantial and people are anxious to get back to some type of normal. However, the impacts accelerated by the pandemic have deeper roots and cannot be ignored. Working from home, mobile workers, long commutes, increased density and flex workspaces were issues and trends that were all in play well before COVID. Now that the pandemic has fast-tracked digital transformation, what comes next? Will buildings ever be used in the same way again, what about density and what role will technology play in creating immersive environments, are all questions to be explored in this opening session.
