Power Over Ethernet (PoE) and Digital Electricity: LOW VOLTAGE Buildings Arrive
The historic battle between DC and AC (Edison vs. Tesla and Westinghouse) for electricity standards was epic and literally changed the course of our nation. The capabilities, efficiency and cost of the two competing technologies resulted in AC becoming the standard. Many still believe, however, that DC (both high and low voltage) is the logical choice now, especially in buildings. In the quest for Zero Net Energy Buildings, several innovative developers have attempted to employ low voltage DC systems in buildings. Today, PoE and Digital Electricity are getting attention as a significantly less expensive and flexible option. From small test projects to entire buildings, low voltage DC is gaining momentum.

LEASE PROCESS AUTOMATION: Functionality for the Old and New Reality
Finding prospects, showing space, negotiating terms and signing contracts are all components of the leasing process. For years, Real Estate organizations have been implementing automation to make the process more efficient and effective. Companies have proceeded on many fronts such as semi-customized systems centered around robust CRM platforms, completely custom designed solutions and market systems designed to meet both internal and market objectives. With the advent of COVID-19, lease renegotiations, defaults and downsized renewals, Real Estate organizations are needing an entire new set of automated processes associated with the lease process. This session highlights the new thinking on Lease Process Automation.

Blackstone's View: Post-COVID PropTech Trends
Historically, real estate organizations have considered technology a tactical part of their operations. Since 2009, during the 4th phase of accelerated technology application within our industry, many noteworthy CRE firms have recognized the strategic significance of technology and innovation and have been shrewdly investing in tech start-ups. All asset classes have defined value propositions for fractional investment in PropTech. Although business objectives may differ, forward thinking Real Estate firms continue to explore these opportunities. In this session we focus on Blackstone’s perspectives on technology trends in the post-COVID world, including the massive acceleration towards omni-channel, eCommerce, digitization of CRE workflows as well as the cyber impacts of the new WFH norm.

Leveraging LOCATION-BASED Smart Facilities Tech to Address the Demands of the COVID-19 Era
This pandemic won’t last forever but like the new security measures that followed 9/11, its lessons will persist during the return to work phase and into the post-COVID environment. In this session, Tom Jackson of Microshare and Matthew Judge of Aramark outlines how emergency investments in wellness, safety, efficiency and sustainability can be locked in for the long run. They will draw on the findings of the C3A Cleaning Capacity Assessment that Jackson designed and shows how occupancy monitoring, wearable contact tracing, predictive cleaning, touchless feedback and Indoor air quality monitoring can transform facilities management and create resilience that will matter when the next crisis strikes.

ACCELERATING REOCCUPANCY: Can Tech Help Get Tenants Back Safely and Confidently Into Our Buildings?
The re-entry to commercial properties will be much slower than the exit. Landlords and property managers are now challenged to ensure that they are doing everything necessary to create and operate a safe and healthy building for staff, tenants and guests. Existing building operations tools are being stretched to the breaking point with new post-COVID health and wellness requirements – from sanitizing inspections to enhanced tenant communication. A true building operations platform allows property teams to digitize their processes and sets the foundation for tech adoption, this is the robust system owners and operators need. And this growing list of complex requirements are redefining the concept of traditional building operations platforms. In this session, our panel of innovative industry execs explore how they’re leveraging technology to enable a smooth reoccupancy process while responding to ever-shifting tenant needs.

Reoccupancy and What the Future Holds for Commercial and Corporate Real Estate
Many are focused on the short term and what re-occupancy into buildings looks like in the next 3-6 months. The business and financial disruption has been substantial and people are anxious to get back to some type of normal. However, the impacts accelerated by the pandemic have deeper roots and cannot be ignored. Working from home, mobile workers, long commutes, increased density and flex workspaces were issues and trends that were all in play well before COVID. Now that the pandemic has fast-tracked digital transformation, what comes next? Will buildings ever be used in the same way again? What about density and what role will technology play in creating immersive environments? These are all questions to be explored in this opening session.
